Sign of the Dove’s two newest members, both named Christine, are featured in March as Artists of the Month. Christine Edgeworth makes hand-cut textile jewelry. When she sits down to make a batch of earrings and lays a piece of fabric on the table, she has no idea what the end result will be. In every inch of fabric new shapes and patterns emerge that take her creativity one way or another. Her jewelry is lightweight, durable, bright, colorful, unique, and crafted in small batches. Fifteen percent of her sales go to entrepreneurs in Guinea, West Africa, to assist with employment and food security.
Christine Faucher is another jeweler who makes earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces. One of her favorite activities is sourcing and repurposing found objects and materials in her work. She is inspired by vintage artifacts and really enjoys incorporating old elements with a history into her pieces, such as keys, postage stamps, watch parts, buttons and hardware. The leather you see in her pieces comes from repurposed leather sample swatches. Her mixed-media necklaces are a perfect example of combining colors and textures and old and new components to make something beautiful and functional. www.trilliumdesigns.jewelry
