Although we will be closed on Labor Day, we are featuring our three Artists of the Month in September: Jackie Fazekas, Judy Kanigel, and Cara Washburn.
Jackie Fazekas works in stained glass, making brilliant panels that might show a gorgeous butterfly or a spray of gingko leaves. She has been developing smaller pieces to show starting this month. Judy Kanigel uses the potter’s wheel and hand building to make her colorful pieces, which are inspired by Italian ceramics. She often uses the technique of sgraffito to carve away layers of underglaze to make an incised design. Cara Washburn uses vintage materials to make artful collaged cards, whimsical magnets using old photos, and delightful little “pixies” made with wire, cotton, and crepe paper and festooned with ribbon, or feathers or moss–items from Maine forests.
